Matty describes his art as a reflection of a fascination with human behavior and the individual. Over the last two decades heʼs turned to common everyday experience as an opportunity to capture snapshots of emotion, he then interprets and processes through a personal filter creating work that delivers his sense of innocent curiosity with an instinctively simplified sentiment. As a child in Massachusetts Matty used art as a vessel of intuitive self expression and he began selling work almost immediately after moving to SoCal at the age of 20, where he felt an influence from the surf and skate scene of San Diego’s North County Coastline. His range in mediums and formats allow him to participate in commissioned projects including illustrations, gallery installations and wall murals - most recently in Aspen, CO where he currently resides. Matty has shown across the US and is widely collected nationally and internationally. |
